Itinerary:
- Your private guide will meet you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza, then you’ll head out in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle for a day devoted to the masterpieces of the Old Kingdom.
- Start at the Giza Plateau, where you will see the Great Pyramid of King Khufu (Cheops), famous for being the largest of the three. Continue to the Pyramid of King Khafre (Chephren) and the Pyramid of Menkaure (Mycerinus), all dating back to Egypt’s Old Kingdom. Nearby, stop at the Sphinx and visit the Valley Temple, associated with ancient mummification rituals.
- If you wish, there is an optional 30-minute camel ride across the Giza Plateau for an extra fee, offering wide desert views and excellent photo opportunities.
- Next, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your excursion south to Saqqara. Here you’ll visit the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, recognized as the earliest pyramid ever built and credited to the architect Imhotep as a landmark in early stone construction. You will also see the Pyramid of Teti and explore the richly decorated tombs of Saqqara’s nobles, which provide detailed scenes and insights into ancient Egyptian life and beliefs.
- From Saqqara, drive about 20 minutes to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt. At the open-air museum, admire the colossal statue of Ramses II and the remarkable Alabaster Sphinx, one of the largest examples of its kind.
